Trionic 5, T5 Conversions, Trionic 7 and more. Lets learn how to get the most out of our Swedish speed demons.
Trionic 5 Conversion for C900 & OG9000
Trionic 5 is the engine management system introduced in 1994 year models starting with the NG900 and 9000. The introduction of the T5 system made it possible to tune the engine of the afore mentioned models, and provide better fuel economy and performance. This EMS is a popular swap for classic 900’s and non-T5 9000 models (’94 – earlier).
The T5 conversion is seen as one of the biggest upgrades you can do for your classic. It is often seen as a complicated process to those who havent done an ECU swap before on other vehicles. Our goal here is to make this process as accessible as possible while providing recources for you to complete this process.
Sourcing is the hardest part of the conversion. Making sure you have all the appropriate sensors, and making sure your vehicle is compatible with the conversion. More info below.
If you have the money, Modern Classic Saab makes T5 conversion wiring harness complete with sensors, ECU, New Flywheel, and a Direct Injection Fuel Cassete.

Parts & Sourcing
- MCS Conversion Kit & more: T5 Kit
Sourcing parts takes patience if you don’t want to fork over 3k for a kit. You are looking for an NG900 SE/Turbo. The parts list is available in the PDF guide and on the T5 Conversion page from MCS.
Trionic 5/7 Tuning
Trionic Tuning, especially before the introduction of OBDII ports is a little complicated but well worth getting the setup started. Once you get to that point its all about learning to tune and reading your ECU properly. This is done using T5 Suite, a tuning software made specifically for the Trionic 5 system.
